Excellent work, gentlemen. Brendan, excellent questions. James, your voice rings true in the responses. I especially appreciate the perspective you offer on the housing crisis intersection with tourism. I was also struck by your use of the word friction in regard to travel experiences. I am thinking more about this in so many ways. The shudders running through the global system during this period of change make me think about the casual way I have approached services and products that offer little more than convenience in exchange for more than my money. Reporting to the US firms MasterCard or Visa every time I spend a euro is an example. I am paying a couple points in the pricing, but I am also paying with my information. Likewise with the convenience or location (rarely the price) of vacation rentals such as Airbnb or Vrbo, I am paying with the sustainability of the very community I hoped to experience. Thank you for exploring these issues. Well done and I look forward to your continued good work.
Hello Kaila! Thanks for your message. It's starting in September. Given you're signed up on the wait list, you'll get an email when we announce the specific dates :)
This was great! I lived in Spain for three years teaching English and got to know the country pretty intimately. Thank you for exploring it in depth! <3
I was in a pueblo in Cádiz, Cádiz my first year. Then Granada my second year. And finally Vigo (I lived in Cangas the town across the river) my last year! So Andalucía to Galicia haha
In the almost three years that I’ve lived in Cuenca and visited over fifteen other cities, I’ve definitely noticed a massive difference. I much prefer the authentic experience in my chosen city over some of the more famous places and have already logged almost 25000km on my bicycle in the Spanish heartland and don’t miss the coast a bit.
I’ve decided to start writing Photographer’s guides to the more historical and photogenic cities, as this is such a lovely country to explore with so much to offer.
Thanks to both of you for keeping me up to date and for introducing new places!

Thank you David, I'm glad it was thought provoking. I hope all is well in Valencia!
As someone moving to Valencia in August, this was a extremely detailed, informative and helpful post.
James, when is your next master class? I've put myself on the waiting list, but I just wondered if you could give me some idea?

Excellent points of view here...
Thanks Jeffrey, loved being able to have this kind of conversation with someone who is so passionate and knowledgeable about Spain. More to come!

You’re very welcome, thanks for reading! What part of Spain were you teaching in?
